IPC-A-610 Course and Certification for Electronic Assemblies
IPC-A-610 Course and Certification for Electronic Assemblies
IPC A-610 Training and Certification – Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
The IPC A-610 certification training standard is used by electronics manufacturers worldwide and is the most commonly used inspection standard in the electronics industry. It is internationally recognised as the standard for end-product acceptance criteria for consumer and high-reliability printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
Few people in the high-performance electronics manufacturing industries would not benefit from this course! Knowing the criteria for acceptable components and electronics assemblies, how to avoid component damage and how to create quality and reliable products is crucial for all businesses that need 100% performance in extreme conditions.

The IPC A-610 certification training course covers the acceptance criteria for electronic assemblies across multiple product classes. While aerospace, defence and motorsport electronics manufacturers usually work to Class 3, the training and the standard covers all three classes – Class1, Class 2 and Class 3.
While delegates should have knowledge of industry language and a basic understanding of soldering practice, PCBs, and component recognition, this is a theory-only course and is crucial for anyone involved with the inspection of PCB assemblies.
The IPC A-610 certification standard will help your team accurately identify what does and doesn’t constitute acceptable standards so you can reduce scrap costs, rework time and increase product reliability and quality.
What does the IPC A-610 Certification cover?
IPC A-610 courses cover all three product classes. In particular, we look at inspection criteria for all aspects of PCB assembly, so your team can identify and agree on acceptable standards.
The course covers everything from criteria for component damage, cleaning and coating through to requirements for mechanical assemblies including
Soldering and High Voltage
Component Damage, Printed Circuit Boards & Assemblies
Terminal Connections
Plated Through Hole (PTH)
Surface Mount (SMT)
Jumper Wires
Hardware
IPC A-610 Training: Who is it for?
The IPC A-610 standard training is aimed at those who are responsible for quality and reliability in electronics assembly.
Specifically, those who need a clear understanding of what is and isn’t acceptable in a soldered joint or electronic assembly: quality inspectors, manufacturing engineers, production managers, assembly operators, managers etc.
If you’re looking for more basic solder or handling training for your team, please see our electronics training information.

IPC A-610 Training and Certification FAQ’s
We’re centrally located in the UK with excellent transport links:
- Address: MARQ-ONE Ltd, Eliot Park Innovation Centre, Barling Way, Nuneaton CV10 7RH
- Easy access to major road and rail networks
- Close to two international airports
All IPC A-610 Certifications (CIS, CSE, and CIT levels) are valid for two years. You can re-certify within 3 months before expiry but if your certificate expires, you’ll need to take the full course again.
Most IPC A-610 courses take 3-4 days, some may be shorter. Contact us for a precise schedule based on your needs.
The IPC A-610 training courses can be done remotely however courses with practical assessments must be done in person. While we can offer remote training, we feel the value from in-person teaching is exponentially more valuable than the convenience of an online course. You can choose to train either in our fully equipped facility or at your location.
There are more details about each course available which should help you identify what is the best fit for you, however, what you may think you need and what you actually need can be two different things – if you need more information don’t hesitate to get in touch!
