‘It was obvious when I met Mark for the first time that he was passionate about solving problems and that he brought a very human approach. Giving his few days of his time for free showed that he wasn’t in it “just for the money” and genuinely wanted to help.
We got more than we expected! He saved us time in the strategic thought processes and having him willing and able to support with those steps meant we can maintain momentum.’

‘The company had lost its way in terms of following customer requirements and international standards. The work being carried out was both below standard and in some cases way above standards, creating additional handling, rework and scrap.
The level of understanding was low and the training being given was not helping to address the issues. It became obvious there had to be a return back to basics using a fresh approach.
Marq-one offered bespoke courses that followed the principles and standards of IPC while also tailoring the course to the intricacies and requirements of the company. The use of real- life examples and industry experience was key to peoples understanding of why standards are so important.’

‘We recognised as a business that our losses (scrap and rework) were at an unacceptable level and way above what was perceived as permissible, the focus at an organisational level started our activities into understanding underlying themes driving poor quality within manufacturing. We were able to see strong themes relating to opportunities around rework capabilities as well as best practices for PCB products and handling thereof. The reason for not working this historically is that we were too focused at a failure mode or project level to see the overall landscape of losses, with a far more holistic view, we were able to identify at a business level what were the core themes of where we were seeing rework and scrap.
With the size, scale and complexity of both the problem in hand as well as the organisation, it was quite difficult to know where to start with the issue in hand. The reason we reached out to Mark was for a fresh look at the problem as well as being able to provide some expert advice and ideas on ways to tackle it. We knew that an off the shelf training package wouldn’t be what we were after, so Mark was able to create something that met our exact needs, listening to our requirements and translating them into a meaningful package of work.
The most valuable thing about working with Mark was a proven and demonstrated high level of knowledge, accumulated through many years in the electronics industry which showed real life examples of do’s/don’ts. The reason this was helpful was it allowed for complex issues to be dissected and understood easily, really getting to the root of our (customer) requirements- what is the question we’re trying to answer. The reason for using Mark and his services was multi-faceted, but the end goal would mean we as an organisation would be more competitive, more profitable with far less waste in the system meaning more time on value add activities. The desire was to hit all major aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost as well as developing our people along the way.’

‘We had held IPC membership and trained staff to the applicable standards since the mid 90’s. We had been pursuing an internal training solution, training one of our team to set up a training school, however this option ceased to be viable during 2022.
The training provider we had used previously changed their format to an online only offering following COVID-19. We did not believe this to offer value, since we take the training of our staff very seriously and expect IPC Class 3 as a minimum quality level for our products. We began the search for alternative trainers and I recalled our connection on LinkedIn and our common past connections, so got in touch. We’ve been delighted with Mark’s service and have continued to book further training for our team throughout 2023.’
